From THE Blog – Burkman Brothers

If our bleachers don’t have you hankering for summer, I don’t know what will.  The quirky (yet updated) tropical prints, casual tees, and white shorts are just screaming SUMMER, SUMMER, SUMMER!

The voice(s) behind that chant are the Burkman Brothers, Doug and Ben and their latest collection, Tourist.

After spending time designing for the Gap. the pair thought, “maybe I can do this by myself,” and launched their own line in the Spring/Summer of 2009. Find out more about their brand, their inspiration, and their travels at the official Urban Outfitters blog where the two were recently featured.

A (mani)CURE …

…for a rainy day.

Miss Pop is making an appearance at Urban Outtfitters, Union Square tonight where she will be sprucing up nails and spirits with  one hour nail art classes on the hour, every hour from 4PM – 7PM.

And if that doesn’t cure your rainy day blues a free gift with any beauty purchase of $10 or more, should do the trick.

Cheer up dear, your nails look fabulous!

Getting Art’y With It na na na na na na, na na na na na na!
Join the Urban crew in Greenwich tonight as they host artists, Jill Parry and Roxanne Faber Savage, for the GAC’s  15th annual Art to the Avenue opening-night event.
Tonight kicks off the month long art extravaganza, where Greenwich Avenue transforms from a shopping district to a, well, shopping district with loads of art, as participating retailers (all 120 of them) display work from local artists. All art is available for purchase, but the drinks, snacks, and entrainment are free.
See you there!

Army jacket, graphic tank, and lace-oh my!

I’m totally digging these shots taken by our very own (and very talented) Rachel S.

Rachel’s featured on a TeenVogue supported blog, Dashing A!

This particular shoot features a retro Unif tank and hey, whaddya know…we sell that!

(…and the best part is, we can replicate so many of these trends with our very own goods.)

Get inspired, get shopping, then get dressed. (Now get to work!)

This week I will be visiting our new neighbors and close cousin, Terrain, as they prepare to open their second location just down the road from us in good ol’ Westport, Connecticut.

Let me just tell you something…there is  nothing more inspiring than a room, no, a building full of creative individuals coming together from all over the country just to create something beautiful and unique, a true escape from reality.  Our oldest and farthest-travelled guests are the windows and trees pictured below.  The windows come to Westport from Philadelphia’s famed Navy Yard, the country’s first Navy Yard, which dates back all the way to 1776. (The Navy Yard, presently decommissioned, now houses Urban’s corporate headquarters.) While the trees join us from southern California, which they departed from over two weeks ago.

Wow, right?

Lets Hear It For the Boys…

…and their printed socks.

According the The Urban Gent, first grade girls aren’t the only ones sporting printed socks.  With beefed up prints with a bit more bite today’s Urban Gentleman is heating up his fashion sense and his ankles.
